about

The abyssopelagic zone is in perpetual darkness, stretching down to as much as 20,000ft in depth. There is no natural light, save for the bioluminescence created by deep-sea creatures. The zone remains almost completely unexplored.

My theory behind this album is that the series of water/ocean/aquarium albums i've been working on needed a natural junction in terms of tone before i can interpolate them in a new way. With Abysso-pelagic, i want to create the feeling of being ultimately lost and submerged deep in the open ocean. This atmosphere of a seemingly endless, cold, high-pressure void is what this album ultimately tries to convey to the listener.

You have to dive into the deepest, most haunting reaches of the ocean before you can surface again.
